The last days have been extremely cold and within a few days first the sea ground has frozen and now the whole sea between this island and mainland slowly but steady becomes a big skating rink.

There are frozen waves all over the beach and if this cold lasts another few days no ferries will be able to approach our island ... our neighbour island Amrum is almost unapproachable by ferry. They plan to get one ferry there tomorrow but who knows ...

It's not that cold today, so I was able to spend more than ten seconds at the beach - and I took some photos of this great natural spectacle which of course are never able to show what it feels like to stand on the frozen north sea...
